Tim Cusick's Coaching Champions (formerly, Teaching the Teacher)

Learn the secrets of Tim Cusick's award winning teaching methods at Tim Cusick's Coaching Champions (formerly, Teaching the Teacher) seminars.  In two days, Tim delivers his personal thoughts and ideas on teaching the game and demonstrates the teaching style that has helped both amateurs and professionals play better golf.  Attendees will learn:

  • To make your students their own best teachers by helping them to understand their faults and how to correct them.
  • To use a combination of learning strategies to accelerate the improvement process:
    • Verbal - Describe the mistake and the correction.
    • Visual - Demonstrate the mistake and the correction using video analysis or a mirror.
    • Kinetic - Use a "hands on" approach to let the student feel the correction.
      • Tim's "hands on" technique allows the student to not only get the proper feel, but also allows the instructor to feel how ingrained the mistake is.  This allows the instructor to exaggerate a movement to help the student feel the change more rapidly.
  • To analyze the trajectory and curvature of the ball's flight and clubface impact to isolate the mistake that will provide the most immediate improvement for the student.  This technique provides positive results for the student - and the instructor - in a short period of time.

Attendees also have the opportunity to observe live lessons and get an evaluation of their own golf swing.  Attendance at the seminars contributes 8 hours toward educationsl requirements for PGA Professionals.

Quotes from recent attendees:

"If I could only attend one seminar this year, I would choose the "Coaching Champions" seminar by Tim Cusick.  It is that good."

Klas Olsson, Head Professional, Royal Copenhagen Golf Club, Copenhagen, Denmark

"I consider Tim Cusick my mentor.  I felt I had a pretty good grasp on how to teach when I applied for an instructor postion at the Hank Haney Golf Ranch in McKinney, TX in 2006.  Tim was the Director of Instruction and his job was to teach all new employees the Haney method.  I learned so much more about how to teach from Tim than I expected.  He emphasized the swing plane, the proper impact, how to move students into the proper position but more importantly; how to properly analyze and correct a students swing problems.  Learning to teach is an ever changing proposition, that's why I sought out Tim's two-day Teaching the Teacher Seminar this past February.  It was a good refresher class for me, but I also learned several new wrinkles that I am applying in my lessons today."

Johnny Williams, PGA Assistant Golf Professional, Heritage Ranch Golf & Country Club, NTPGA Board Member & NTPGA Education Chairman

"Tim's teaching philosophy and style make diagnosing and correcting swing flaws quick and easy. His explainations of the swing were clear and easy to translate into my own teaching style. His 'hands on' training was very helpful to me as a teacher and I can see my students improving because of it. The best part was that I learned how to teach my students about their own swing, so they can correct their mistakes when I am not around."

Chad Moscovic, Prestonwood CC, PGA Level 3 Apprentice
